Museum in a suitcase

(Hi)stories to unpack, touch and discover

We are coming to your school with a suitcase full of historic museum objects. Why did these objects land in the museum’s suitcase? What are the stories behind the objects and what is it that makes an object valuable for historic research?

In small groups, the pupils select one object each. They study it for its age, material and function. What could be the story behind this object? With savviness and ingenuity, the pupils uncover the secret of their
chosen museum object with the help of info cards.

As the highlight at the end of the workshop, the pupils choose their
favourite object and accordingly, their favourite story behind it.

The goal is to use individual items from the Mitte Museum collection
to introduce the pupils to Berlin (hi)stories in a playful way.
