We only process personal data (hereinafter mainly called “data”) insofar as necessary and in order to provide a well-functioning and user-friendly web presence, including the corresponding contents and 
services offered on our website. 

In compliance with Art. 4 paragraph 1 of the Regulation (EU) 2026/679, also the General Data Protection Regulation (hereinafter just called “GDPR”), every activity carried out either with or without the help of 
automated processes or any series of activities in the context of personal data, including the collection, recording, organization, structuring, storage, adaptation or alteration, retrieval, consultation, use, disclosure by transmission, dissemination or any other form of making data available, alignment or combination, restriction, erasure or destruction of data is considered to be “processing”. 

With the following privacy notice, we inform you in particular about 
the way, scope, purpose, duration and legal basis for processing personal data, insofar as we on our own or together with others decide about the purpose and the means used for processing. Hereinafter, we also 
inform your about the external components used by us for optimization purposes and an enhanced quality of use, insofar as this leads to the processing of data by third parties, again on their own authority.

I. Information about us as the data controller
The Mitte Museum is the responsible entity (data controller under the GDPR) in compliance with Article 6 of the Telemedia Act and Article 10 of the Interstate Media Treaty. The Mitte Museum is an institution of the district office of Mitte in Berlin, Department of Further Education and Culture, Specialist Division Arts, Culture and History.

II. Rights of users and data subjects

In view of data processing, hereinafter described in more detail, users and data subjects have the right

·      of access that processing of their personal data is taking place, 
of information about the processed data, of further information about data processing as well as to obtain copies of the data 
(see also Art. 15 GDPR);

·      to rectification or completion of incorrect or incomplete data (see also Art. 16 GDPR);

·      to immediate erasure of their personal data (see also Art. 17 GDPR) or alternatively, if further processing in compliance with Art. 17 paragraph 3 GDPR is necessary, to a restriction of processing in line with Art. 18 GDPR;

·      of obtaining the personal data relating to and provided by them and to transferring the data to other providers/controller (see also Art. 20 GDPR);

·      to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority if they consider that processing of their personal data by the provider infringes data protection regulations (see also Art. 77 GDPR).

Furthermore, the provider is also obliged to inform all recipients that have had data disclosed to them by the provider about any rectification or erasure of data or the restriction of processing pursuant to Articles 16 and 17, paragraphs 1,18 GDPR. However, this obligation does not apply if disclosing this information is impossible or requires a disproportionate effort. Notwithstanding this fact, the user has a right to be informed about thesw recipienta.

In line with Art. 21 GDPR, users and data subjects also have the right to object to the future processing of their personal data, insofar as the provider processes the data in line with Art. 6 paragraph 1 lit. f) GDPR. The objection is in particular permissible if data processing is used for the purpose of direct advertising.

III. Information on data processing
Your data processed while using our web presence is either erased or blocked as soon as the reason for storing the data no longer applies, 
if there is no legal basis for retaining the data, and no other provisions to the contrary are stated hereinafter about individiual processing 
procedures.

Server data
For technical reasons, and in particular to ensure a secure and stable web presence, data are transmitted to us or our web host via your web browser. Information collected by these so-called server log files includes type and version of your web browser, the operating system, the website you accessed when switching to our web presence (referrer URL), the website(s) of our web presence that you visited, date and time of access as well as the IP address of the internet connection you used to access our web presence. We temporarily store the data collected like that, yet not together with any other of your data.
The legal basis for storing the data is Article 6 paragraph 1 lit. f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest is in the improvement, stabilization, functionality and security of our web presence.

Data is erased after seven days at the latest, insofar as no futher storage as evidence is necessary. In that case, data is completely or in parts exempted from being erased until the final clarification of an incident.

Contact requests / Ways of contacting us

If you contact us by using our contact form or by sending us an email, this leads to the processing of the data provided by you to handle your enquiry. It is mandatory to provide the data to enable us to handle and reply to your enquiry – without your personal information, we either cannot at all reply to your enquiry or our reply is restricted.

The legal basis for processing your data is Art. 6 para. 1 lit. b) GDPR.

Your data is erased as soon as we have concluded the reply to your enquiry and no legal storage requirements conflict with erasure, for example a potential ensuing fulfilment of a contract.
